Teaching according to the Patras University course of study
The Laboratory of Electromechanical Energy Conversion, being a part of the Electrical Power Systems division of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Patras University, is responsible for the students’ education and training in the following subjects:
- Electrical Machines
- Power Electronics
- Electric Motor Drive Systems
Students are educated in a both theoretical and practical direction focusing beyond the basic theory of learning, having thus the opportunity to get familiar with the study and designing of integrated electromechanical energy conversion systems. Such systems consist of electrical machines, inverters, electrical drives and automatic control systems. Sophisticated software is employed for the efficient experimental simulation and study of complicated circuits.
The Laboratory of Electromechanical Energy Conversion has been the host or partner in a number of seminars for graduated engineers, physicians and scientists of other faculties, as well as for high school graduates. This kind of activity first started in 1985 and is carried on up to this day. Professor Dr.-Ing A.N. Safacas, the director of L.EM.E.C., was the chairman in each one of these seminars while he has been the scientific director in most of them. LEMEC teachers and researchers participation was significant for the attendees’ training positive results.
